First carving for 2010!

This is my first piece for 2010. A little angel :). It was my first attempt at hair, and i think it turned out alright!
I have a few more carvings in process, so ill post them soon too.

Random Side project...The human torch

My son was invited to a super hero birthday party a few weks ago, and when asked what he wanted to dress up as he said "that guy who's all on fire and flies"- the human torch. So I set to making him a costume.

It is simply an acrylic paint base coat with the black details, then a red and yellow top coat painted over stencils. After it was dry I beat it out a little so the fabric wasnt so stiff for him to wear.

FLAME ON!

Small Steps...

Ok I have cleared out most of the junk in my art-room, turns out it was mostly organised, just looked like a bigger job than it was.

I really need more desk space as the one I have is pitted and worn (from a previous owner) and is thus not very good to draw on. I would also love to pull up the mucky carpet that is on the floor, as it is full of dust and makes my allergies flare up something atrocious...plus it feels mucky.

Hopefully I can start looking into some solutions for these problems soon. I really want to be in there working, but its hard to do if you cant breathe!

Okay it has been forever since i have posted anything on here, and i really need to get my butt into gear! As part of my 2010 art goals, I AM going to blog more. I AM going to get my studio into a working space (renovations elsewhere in the house means i have hockey gear on my floor and a marble castle on my desktop). I AM going to create regularly. I AM going to enter art competitions and try and get into some sort of show. I AM going to start living like the artist I AM...lol.

So here goes 2010...hopefully the year im going to start making progress!
